In
A Humanist
Catechism
for Young Thinkers
the author, a teacher with over 30 years experience, poses 100 topical questions and offers
100 thought-provoking answers for consideration. A non-dogmatic, take-it-or-leave-it, down-to-earth, secular
examination of some of life's big questions,
'A Humanist Catechism for Young Thinkers' is intended for use in SCHOOLS, SEMINARIES, TEACHER
TRAINING COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES and in the HOME. It is hoped that it will facilitate the conversation between and
within the generations.
'A Humanist Catechism for Young Thinkers' looks at moral, social,
philosophical questions from a sceptical, god(s)-free perspective. It is not anti-religion as such, certainly
not anti-morality, but it is 'anti-' many of the things religion stands for: blind allegiance, unquestioning
acceptance, herd-like compliance.
'A Humanist Catechism for Young Thinkers' encourages a spirit of
free-enquiry, of open-ended questioning. It argues for a faith-free Education system based on sound human values
and humanist principles. It doesn't tell young people WHAT to think - it dares and trusts them to investigate
HOW to think.
'A Humanist Catechism for Young Thinkers' proposes that in this, the Age
of the Individual, real community was never more important. To be a member of the healthy community however, the
individual need not and must not relinquish individuality. Combining true community and true individuality is
one the greatest challenges of our time.
If you are a questioning young person, a teacher, a parent or an open-minded enquirer, 'A
Humanist Catechism for Young Thinkers' is for you, irrespective of age.

'A Humanist Catechism
for Young Thinkers' Volume 2 is in
preparation.
